Exhibition – Ignacy Jan Paderewski
Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic
November 10th -24th, 2019
The SYMFONIA Creative Group, founded in 2009, operates within the framework of the Warsaw District of the Związek Polskich Artystów Plastyków [Association of Polish Visual Artists]. We have already organized almost twenty painting exhibitions dedicated to the music and work of Polish composers (Chopin, Kolberg, Lutosławski, Paderewski, Moniuszko) and published seven highly valued professional catalogs. Our motto has always been the “synthesis of arts” originating from the romantic tradition of Correspondance des arts, which has become a compass and a signpost for the artistic activities of the Group. The close relationship between painting and music is evidenced by terms such as composition, rhythm, contrast, dynamics, statics, tonality, harmony, dissonance… Of course, each artist is specific in their own way – creating according to their own criteria of imagination, in their unique poetry, style and creative dynamics – it is a difficult task to project one art (music) onto another (painting). Nor is this about illustrating music in painting, but about transferring and imagining the emotions that
it evokes in the artist.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence, we organized an exhibition dedicated to Ignacy Jan Paderewski. The exhibition obtained the National Patronage of President Andrzej Duda on the 100th anniversary of regaining independence. We present part of this exhibition during the 11th International Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz, in the foyer of the magnificent Philharmonic, named after Maestro Ignacy Jan Paderewski. We wanted our work to show the importance of the role of artists (musicians, painters, sculptors, poets, writers, ballet creators) in the life of the Nation. Art soothes passions, introduces harmony and beauty in human hearts. It inspires. In the difficult times in which Ignacy Jan Paderewski lived, he rose above divisions and disputes, referring to higher ideals: unity, dedication and work for a common cause. He was a talented man, but also an outstanding statesman. The role he played in our history cannot be overestimated – he was Poland’s greatest Ambassador in the world. We, also acting in the artistic field within the SYMFONIA Group, want to make a collective effort for art in our homeland, continuing the work of our Great Predecessor.
